When I think of fall, I think of family time. The days get shorter and we all spend more time together as a family, something I truly look forward to. One of our favorite fall traditions is spending the afternoon at a local farm. What's better than sipping hot cider and trudging through a corn maze? Not much.
In Skagit and Snohomish County we are lucky enough to have many fantastic farms to choose from- they are scattered everywhere from Mount Vernon to Snohomish. One of our family favorites is Foster's Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze in Arlington. This locally owned farm sits along Highway 530. It looks small from the road but it's always packed with fun fall activities, keeping you busy for just the right amount of time. Your kiddos will love the apple slingshot and cow barrel train rides. Who wouldn't?
Next, it was on to the farm animals. (Hint: Grab the feed while you buy tickets, it’ll save you from walking back. $1/cup, sold in barn). My kids loved Annie the Goat, and the other animals. We spent the afternoon at the corn maze (it's muddy so dress appropriately!), slinging apples and shooting from the cannon. The kids loved the ride on the cow train, pulled by the tractor. Then it was off to find pumpkins!
Overall it was a great afternoon spent at Foster's. We found the time went by fast as we explored the area, really enjoying just being together as a family. The owners were incredibly nice and everyone was very friendly.
We were sure to grab ice cream on our way out. It was the perfect way to end the afternoon.
It's that time of year again! We are sad to bid summer goodbye but happy to welcome fall, my personal favorite time of year. We say hello to cooler weather, pumpkins, apple cider, jumping in leaves and fun adventures. We've put together this fun Fall guide full of pumpkin patches, farms, ideas for fun and more.
Let's start with our favorite- farms! We have so many wonderful farms in the area that are always jammed packed of fun Fall festivities. So dust off your boots, wrangle the kiddos and head on over to one of these fantastic farms. Don't feel limited to just one- they all offer something unique and fun for the whole family.
Please note farm activities and hours are always subject to change. It's best practice to call beforehand.
